Benzino’s latest arrest in Georgia adds to his growing list of legal troubles spanning multiple years and jurisdictions.
Benzino got pulled over on Interstate 75 in Georgia on June 9 and ended up in handcuffs at the Crisp County Jail, marking another legal headache for the “Love & Hip Hop Atlanta” star.
An officer clocked his silver SUV doing 91 miles per hour in a 70 mph zone on Georgia 401, and when the cop approached the vehicle, Benzino told him he didn’t have a valid driver’s license because of child support issues. That’s when things escalated fast.
The officer reported smelling marijuana coming from inside the car, and Benzino admitted the drug was in the vehicle and directed police to its location.
Officers found a bag of suspected marijuana in the driver’s side door, but that wasn’t the only stash they discovered.
A second bag containing suspected marijuana was found under a blanket in the back seat next to a passenger named Ruth Lewis, who claimed the marijuana belonged to her and got arrested as well.
According to WRDW, a records check revealed Benzino’s driver’s license was suspended for multiple offenses, so he was taken into custody and transported to the Crisp County Jail.
The vehicle’s owner told officers that Benzino had been driving because she’d taken medication and needed to sleep. She was cited for allowing an unlicensed driver to operate her vehicle.
This arrest marks another chapter in Benzino’s complicated relationship with the legal system, which includes previous arrests dating back to 2019 when he faced charges related to driving an uninsured vehicle and later a bench warrant in DeKalb County.
In 2020, Benzino was arrested in DeKalb County following a heated altercation with his ex-girlfriend Althea Heart’s boyfriend, during which he allegedly damaged the man’s vehicle.
That incident resulted in a warrant for his arrest, and he eventually surrendered to authorities.
