Black Rob Passes Away At 51

R.I.P. Black Rob.

Hip Hop is mourning another tragic loss as Black Rob has passed away in Atlanta following a cardiac arrest on Saturday (April 17). He was 51.

The former Bad Boy artist’s passing comes just a week after DMX’s passing where he offered his condolences from a hospital bed, causing concern among his fans.

“Rob passed away about an hour ago,” said former labelmate Mark Curry in an Instagram post. Curry added, “I don’t know where to begin, but I thank everybody for the donations. We’ve lost a lot of legends and we can’t afford to lose anymore”.

Born in East Harlem, Black Rob signed with Bad Boy in 1996. He is best known for his 2000 hit “Whoa” off his classic debut album Life Story as well as other hits including “Can I Live”, “I Dare You”, his guest appearances on Diddy’s “I Love You Baby”, Ma$e’s “24 Hours To Live”, and more.

In 2006, Black Rob was sentenced to seven years in prison for grand larceny and was released in 2010. He had a long history of health issues including diabetes, lupus, kidney failure, and multiple strokes.

Diddy took to Instagram over the weekend and paid tribute to his former artist and dear friend, “Rest in power King @therealblackrob ! As I listen to your records today there’s one thing that they all have in common! You have made millions of people all over the world feel good and dance! You are one of a kind! GOD BLESS! ???????? Love. ????????✨ You will be truly missed!!!” Prior to Black Rob’s untimely demise, Diddy reached out to Rob with support and has since offered to help pay for the funeral arrangements, according to Page Six.

Our thoughts and prayers to Black Rob’s family, friends and fellow fans. Ain’t no replacing him.
