Chaka Zulu Wounded In Shooting In Atlanta

Music executive and longtime manager of Ludacris Chaka Zulu is recovering after being shot in Atlanta over the weekend.

The co-founder of Disturbing The Peace records was one of the three that were shot at 11:35 p.m. on Sunday night (Jun. 26). They were all transported to a local hospital, where 23-year-old Artez Benton of Scottdale passed away.

Police Lt. Germain Dearlove told Channel 2 Action News the shooting was the “result of a dispute in the parking lot,” which occurred in a parking lot behind a strip mall. Former Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed said Zulu was stable. “We are fortunate to report that Chaka Zulu is in stable condition and recovering,” Reed said. “The family thanks everyone for their well wishes and prayers, and asks for their privacy at this time.”
