Drake's Dance Album + Golden State Warriors Win Prompts Jermaine Dupri To Lash Out At Internet Haters

June 21, 2022

Drake dropped his surprise album Honestly, Nevermind on Friday (June 17), dividing Twitter in the process. Some loved Drake’s new direction, while others called it his worst album yet, likening it to an Auto-Tuned nightmare. Meanwhile, the Golden State Warriors took home another championship trophy after they beat the Boston Celtics for the coveted NBA title just the day before.

As Twitter lit up with hot takes and disparaging remarks about Drake and Warriors MVP Steph Curry, Jermaine Dupri couldn’t help but notice just how toxic the internet is. Taking to Twitter on Monday (June 20), he threw in his own two cents, writing, “These guys that have never had a #1 record, won a NBA championship or a Super Bowl be the most shit talking ni66as I eva seen.”

Drake’s chart dominance continues with Honestly, Nevermind. Just one hour after its release, he smashed another record. According to a press release, Honestly, Nevermind became the biggest dance album in Apple Music history, breaking first-day streams worldwide.

Drake currently holds the record for the biggest album in Apple Music history by first-day streams worldwide with 2021’s Certified Lover Boy, while 2018’s Scorpion is the second biggest album by first-day streams worldwide. Drake also holds the record for the biggest song in Apple Music history by first-day streams worldwide, with “Girls Want Girls.”

As for the Golden State Warriors, Curry helped lead his team to a 103-90 Game Six victory over the Boston Celtics, their fourth Championship in eight seasons.
