Jada Pinkett's Ex-Lover August Alsina Speaks Out After Will Smith-Chris Rock Oscars Drama

The Internet is still buzzing over Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars on Sunday (March 27). Celebrities, athletes, musicians and more have chimed in on the drama, but there’s one person who many have been waiting to hear from given his history with the Smith family.

R&B singer August Alsina had an affair with Will Smith’s wife Jada Pinkett in 2016, an “entanglement” that he later claimed had Will’s consent. The messy situation opened the door for all kinds of jokes about Smith’s unconventional marriage, with some believing it was the catalyst behind the Fresh Prince losing his cool at the Academy Awards.

On Tuesday (March 29), Alsina hopped on Instagram to seemingly reflect on the slap heard ’round the world and joined the chorus of people calling for nonviolence. According to the singer, people need to trust the universe in putting the pieces of their respective puzzles together.

“Choose peace,” Alsina wrote. “Trusting that life’s intricate puzzle pieces are all forming together for the greater good and mastering of the seasonally sometime chaotic nature of your life’s art piece that’s being formed and painted by birthing life to your internal masterpiece; grown through external chaos-metamorphosing alchemy, dark turned 2 light and beauty within.”

The “I Luv This Shit” crooner returned shortly after with another Instagram post referencing Tyler Perry’s Madea character brandishing a gun and calling it a “peacemaker.”

“For those of them in the back that like to solve aLgEbRa eQuAtIoNs & mOrSe codes,” August wrote. “Jesus is a peace maker, so sit still bul’! Lol aight I’m done trollin… I love y’all.”

Jada Pinkett also broke her silence on Will Smith’s Oscars slap on Tuesday, posting a simple yet somewhat cryptic message on Instagram that read “This is a season for healing. And I’m here for it.”

August Alsina’s affair with Jada Pinkett remains one of the most shocking celebrity stories of the last few years. The Smiths welcomed the singer into their home while he was battling personal issues, and eventually August and Jada developed a relationship that turned sexual.

The 29-year-old went public with the affair in 2020 and claimed Will Smith was cool with it. However, that didn’t seem to be true as Will and Jada admitted they were privately separated at the time.
