Kanye West has had a long fascination with Adolf Hitler and Nazi culture, according to one of his former longtime business associates.
According to a CNN source, the 45-year-old reportedly wanted to name his 2018 album after Hitler, but allegedly was talked into naming it after himself with what became known as the seven-track Ye LP.
A long line of entities have since severed ties with Kanye as a result of his controversial anti-Semitic remarks including Balenciaga, Vogue, CAA, Def Jam, Gap and more.
Adidas decided to terminate its contract with the “Can’t Tell Me Nothing” artist earlier this week as well due to his recent anti-Semitic rhetoric. The move decimated Kanye’s net worth from a reported $2 billion to about $400 million, per Forbes.
A pair of superstar athletes in Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown and NFL All-Pro Aaron Donald even left Kanye’s Donda Sports agency.
Apple Music made the first move at censorship of all the major streaming platforms after removing the “Kanye West: Essentials” playlist and the “About Me” artist section from Yeezy’s catalog.
Based on his first comments since the fallout, Ye doesn’t appear to be ruffled by losing such a large amount of money in a short space of time.
“Ari Emmanuel, I lost 2 billion dollars in one day and I’m still alive,” Kanye wrote to Instagram. “This is love speech. I still love you. God still loves you. The money is not who I am. The people is who I am.”
