Kid Cudi Kicks Producer Mike Dean Off Moon Man's Landing Festival

August 04, 2022

Kid Cudi has apparently kicked producer Mike Dean off the upcoming Moon Man’s Landing Festival. On Wednesday (August 3), Dean shared a statement to both is Instagram and Twitter account that read: “Looks like I won’t be playing moon man’s landing this year. Someone cancelled me. Lol. Thanks. That’s all. #immature.”

After a fan asked if he was “cancel culture canceled,” Dean replied, “lol. No one can cancel me like that! Just some baby kid baby shit.” When reached for comment, Dean confirmed to HipHopDX, “[Kid Cudi dropped me] from the festival. I don’t care. I’m doing stadiums this weekend.”

Mike Dean, who has produced for Kanye West, Travis Scott, Kid Cudi and a roster of others, is currently on the road with The Weeknd as part of the After Hours Til Dawn Tour. On Thursday (August 4), they head to Tampa, Florida for a show at the Raymond James Stadium before heading to Miami on Saturday (August 6).

The festival in question is scheduled for September 17 in Cleveland, Ohio with Kid Cudi, Playboi Carti, Pusha T, Don Toliver, Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, Strick and more on the lineup.

While Dean didn’t explain exactly what led to his removal, the friction between the former Kids See Ghosts collaborators has been palpable for some time now. In April, Kid Cudi announced via Twitter he won’t be working with Kanye going forward. His tweet came after the tracklist for Pusha T’s new album It’s Almost Dry surfaced online, showing a Cudi and Kanye collaboration called “Rock N Roll.”

“Hey! So I know some of you heard about the song I got w Pusha,” he wrote. “I did this song a year ago when I was still cool w Kanye. I am not cool w that man. He’s not my friend and I only cleared the song for Pusha cuz thats my guy. This is the last song u will hear me on w Kanye -Scott.”

More recently, Kanye dropped out of the Rolling Loud Miami festival at the last minute and was replaced by Cudi. Ye, however, didn’t offer an explanation for the cancelation either.

Dean’s tweet caused both Kid Cudi and Mike Dean to trend on Twitter with many wondering if they were officially “beefing.” Check out a few of the reactions below.
