Master P Announces His Retirement, Talks New Role As Coach

After spending more than 30 years in the music biz, dropping a long list of albums and signing a bunch of artists, Master P is calling it quits.

In an interview with New Orleans' WDSU, P discussed transitioning from being a rapper and music executive to becoming the President of Basketball Operations for the University of New Orleans men’s basketball team.

"I’m telling people, say goodbye to Master P and say hello to Coach P," he said. "God led me on this journey to go build future leaders. This is my most important job, to be a coach, to be a servant."

P will be giving his last performance at this year's Essence Festival in New Orleans, which will be from July 3 to July 6, and other No Limit artists will join him.

"For me this is a celebration. This is me growing up. We're going to have fun, we're going to party, we're going to put on an incredible show," he explained.
