Pregnant Summer Walker Didn't Win 2022 BET Award But She Sure Got Everyone's Attention

Los Angeles, CA – Summer Walker arrived on the 2022 BET Awards red carpet leaving little to the imagination. The R&B singer, who was nominated in both the Best Female R&B/Pop Artist and BET HER categories, sauntered in with her breasts almost completely exposed. Aside from two carefully gold plated pasties, the pregnant artist was baring it all.

The attention she received wasn’t exactly positive either. Some accused her of disrespecting Africans by sexualizing the jewelry of the Hmong people, indigenous people who mainly live in Southwest China, Vietnam, Laos, Thailand and Myanmar.

As one tweet read, “Summer Walker is truly a foul human being. not only does she blatantly disrespect asian people but now she decides to disrespect Hmong culture by sexualizing their jewelry. she’s seriously an ignorant person and she knows what she’s doing. why do y’all constantly defend her ??

Walker confirmed her pregnancy on Sunday (June 26) with an Instagram video, telling her fans, “People asking me if I’m pregnant. I am! And, you know, I’m very very very happy about it, very excited about it. It’s just, you know, really peaceful, really happy. Lots of help, lots of love, and the only reason I’m even saying anything is because, you know, last time … I felt very disrespected that people didn’t let me tell that myself.”

Walker already shares a child with producer London On Da Track and this will be her first with current boyfriend LVRD Pharoh. But her co-parenting relationship with London continues to be a challenge. Earlier this month, Walker blasted him for his alleged inability to be a good father.

“I literally have the worst bd on the face of the planet lol I can’t wait till I can just get some peace,” she wrote in a since-deleted post. “It’s okay tho I have the most perfect bundle of joy in the world. Wouldn’t change anything about my past if I could.”

Walker didn’t end up winning a BET Award in either category, but Twitter had plenty to say about her outfit choice. Check out some of the reactions below.
