Silento has officially been indicted on murder charges for the shooting death of his cousin, TMZ reports.
A Georgia grand jury has indicted the 23-year-old rapper, born Ricky Hawk, with four felonies, including one count of malice murder, one count of felony murder, one count of aggravated assault, and one count of gun possession during the commission of a felony.
Silento was arrested in February by the Georgia’s DeKalb County Police Department for the fatal shooting of his 34-year-old cousin, Frederick Rooks earlier in the year.
On January 21, police responded to a call of a shooting at 3:30 am at the intersection of Deep Shoals Circle and Corners Xing, where police discovered eight bullet casings at the scene and Rook’s body with severe bleeding from gunshot wounds to the face and leg. Rooks was pronounced dead at the scene.
This isn’t the first time Silento had a run-in with the law. Last September, Silento was arrested in Los Angeles after entering a home with a hatchet looking for his girlfriend. He was charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon. The day before, Silento was also charged with inflicting corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant following a domestic dispute in Santa Ana.
Silento is best known for his 2015 hit single “Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)”, which pawned a dance craze and peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard charts.
Silento’s team claims he has been suffering from various mental health issues for several years. He is currently still being held without bond.
