Skepta didn’t stay quiet when he saw footage of grown men surrounding North West at Paris Fashion Week, and his response cut straight to the heart of what’s wrong with how the industry treats young celebrities.

The London rapper watched the clip from the Vetements Menswear Spring/Summer 2027 show and immediately recognized something that should’ve been obvious to everyone else in that room.

North extended her hand for a handshake, but instead of respecting that boundary, a man pulled her into a hug anyway, and Skepta wasn’t having it.

“A blind man could see she wanted a handshake,” he posted on X, making it clear this wasn’t about being overly sensitive.

He followed up with the real issue: “My fans know I try to stay out of people’s business but damn the way grown men, complete strangers, try to use North makes me sick.”

This wasn’t just criticism for the sake of it. Skepta was calling out a pattern of behavior that happens constantly in entertainment spaces where kids are treated like props for clout-chasing adults.

When someone pushed back and asked if hugging was suddenly a crime, Skepta didn’t back down.

“What are you talking about?!” he responded. “She is 13 years old and she put her hand out for a handshake, you don’t ignore that. I can’t believe some of these replies to my tweet.”

The conversation shifted when another user pointed out that North has basically skipped being a teenager because of her parents’ fame. Skepta’s response was direct: “WOW!! Protect your kids people. Protect your kids!”

What really stuck with people was when Skepta highlighted the bigger problem.

“Schools teaching French, German & English when really the language most people need to f***ing learn is ‘Body Language,'” he wrote.

North, who’s been building her entertainment career with her EP “N0rth4evr” and previous performances like her 2024 “Lion King” concerts at the Hollywood Bowl, deserves the same respect any 13-year-old would get.

The fact that an industry figure had to step in and defend basic boundaries says everything about what’s normalized in these spaces.

North’s siblings, including brothers Saint and Psalm and sister Chicago, are also growing up in this environment, and Skepta’s message was ultimately about protecting all kids from adults who see them as opportunities rather than people.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have supported North’s entertainment ambitions, but the responsibility to keep her safe falls on everyone around her, not just her parents.
