TakeOff's Brother Pens Heartfelt Tribute To Late Rapper: 'I Will Never Stop Looking Up To You’

TakeOff is no longer here in the physical, but his memory continues to live on through his family and friends.

On Monday (November 30), TakeOff’s younger brother, Lingo Mufasa (a.k.a. YRN Lingo), took to Instagram to share a heartfelt tribute to the fallen rapper, who was shot and killed in Houston earlier this month.

In his post, Lingo opened up about the difficulty of dealing with TakeOff’s passing, but also remembered the good times they shared together.

“Dear Take, I don’t know where to begin, I honestly still can’t believe it,” Lingo wrote. “My big brother, my right hand man, my other half, my literal twin. The one I could call upon anytime no matter what time, weather, situation you were in. You always made sure the family was straight, even when I didn’t need anything, you always gave me something.

“I hate that I have to move on with my life without you physically here, I wish I could just stop time and wait, but I know that can’t happen. It’s a lot of things I’m going to miss about you, I could name them but it would be a full list, and that would take forever. I looked up to you more than anyone on this earth and I will never stop looking up to you. I’ll carry your name until the day I die.”

Lingo then spoke on his older brother being a “humble giant” and always keeping his composure no matter what was going on. According to Lingo, he wouldn’t have seen much of the world or experienced life without TakeOff bringing him along.

“I know God had to meet one of his purest angels because you were one of them,” Lingo wrote. “I’m still trying to understand this life thing, just help me and guide me through this hell on earth, cause it’s going to be hard, super hard without you bro.”

He added: “I have to live by your book now, think before I speak, love the family before anyone and anything, and most importantly, put my faith in God. I will see you again one day in heaven brother along with my great grandma. I’ll take care of Mama and Heaven down here. Take you fulfilled your purpose and more. You will forever remain in my heart, our hearts. Love you big brother always and forever! Love, Lingo.”

At the end of his post, Lingo shared several images of himself and TakeOff over the years. The photos showed them in their younger years as kids up until they were adults partying together.

Lingo’s tribute is just one of many that have poured in from TakeOff’s close family and friends. After remaining silent for a short while, Offset bid farewell to his cousin and Migos groupmate in a heartbroken message shared on Instagram on November 15.

“Dear Take, doesn’t feel real posting you like this….This still doesn’t feel like reality. I’ve been searching for the right words to say, but there aren’t any that will suffice. Until we meet again, Rest In Power. I love you,” he wrote.

“I wish I could hug you one last time. Laugh one last time. Smoke one last time. Perform one last time. I know someone with a soul like yours is in heaven now.”

Takeoff’s uncle and partner-in-rhyme, Quavo — who tragically witnessed the Last Rocket rapper’s death — also expressed his grief in a heartfelt letter, in which he reflected on their close bond.

“I’m just proud [to] be in your life. I’m proud to be ya UNCLE. I’m proud we saw the world and done things we couldn’t ever imagine together,” he wrote in part. “You will continue to send your blessings down from Heaven and I will continue to keep your name alive as long as I live.”
