Wu-Tang: An American Saga is back on screens, and Busta Rhymes fans were unhappy with the the portrayal of the rapper in a recent episode.

Season 3 of the Hulu show debuted on Wednesday (February 15) with three new episodes. Busta (played by Saeed Jackson) appears in a scene speaking to a neophyte RZA.

“Flying high. Talk about flying high, look at all this, yo,” Jackson’s Busta Rhymes tells RZA (played by Ashton Sanders) while the two converse at a house party. “Back when we was like 15, you and me used to play like we’d get all this shit one day — and you actually made it happen. Salute.”

However, viewers let it be known on social media that they were irritated with Jackson’s portrayal, with many calling for a re-cast of the Flipmode Squad General.

RZA and Method Man are onboard as executive producers of the series, and with Season 3 serving as the final installment of American Saga, there won’t be a chance to re-cast Busta or anyone else’s character for that matter.

Season 1 of Wu-Tang: An American Saga debuted in 2019 and returned with its second season in September 2021. The acclaimed series has won a pair of Golden Reel Awards, and RZA notched a nomination for a Primetime Emmy in the Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music category.

A Deadline synopsis for Season 3 said that it will follow the Wu-Tang Clan‘s “five-year plan as they face and overcome different challenges following the release of their debut album and their continued rise to fame.

“While each of the members go on separate journeys to figure out where they fit in the music world, RZA struggles to stay on top of things in order to fulfill the promise he made to his Wu brothers. As money, fame, ego, and business threaten to tear the group apart, they must find a way to come together and cement their legacy.”
